About Siem Reip
Seim Reip (with the exception of war damaged cities), must be the most changed city in the world over the past decade. My first trip to the amazing temples of Angkor was in January 2000. I can show photos from inside Ankor Wat that are amazing. Not amazing because of my photographic skills, but amazing as we had the place to ourselves apart from two other backpackers, a handful of Khmer kids and a few monks. Nowadays, things have changed, tourists flock there. 5 star hotels have shot up everywhere, but one thing has not changed, that is the splendorthat is the temples of Angkor, especially Angkor Wat. Sadly, in my honest opinion, far too many tourists fly to Siem Reip, spend a day, maybe two at the temples, then fly out of Cambodia. They miss so much of the real Cambodian experience.

About Kompong Cham
Kompong Cham is a sleepy town on the Mekong River approximately 130 kilometres from Phnom Penh. It has a handful of basic hotels, a couple of western restaurants/bars and is certainly not the place for party animals. What it does have is the only bridge in Cambodia that crosses the Mekong River. It is on the road from Laos (and the Freshwater Dolphin sanctuary that is Kratie) to Phnom Penh and Siem Reip If you insist your hotel room is 5 star, than sorry, this can't be done. Your hotel room will be the best available in Kompong Cham. You will have an air/con room, cable TV, a hot water shower in your bathroom, and a view of the Mekong River. You won't have a swimming pool, nor will you have room service.

You may meet a few backpackers and other tourists who spend the night in Kompong Cham as a stop over, you may meet the odd (sometimes very odd) Phnom Penh expatriate, who just needs to get out of the city for a night. You will however, love Kompong Cham for its beautiful scenery, laid back attitude and extremely friendly local people.

Day 1.
Meals that are supplied:Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

You will be picked up from your hotel around 8am and driven to the Hog House in Takmao, approximately 12kms from the centre of Phnom Penh. We leave Takmao and travel back through Phnom Penh following the Tonle Sap River.

Thirty kms out of PhnomPenh we cross the Tonle Sap river by ferry. We will make our way to the town of Kompong Thom where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we continue on to the town of Siem Reip Here we book into the 4 star Angkor Hotel. That night we'll head off to a Khmer restaurant for dinner and a few drinks. After dinner an optional few more drinks at a few of the bars around town, then off to bed.

Day 2.
Meals that are supplied: Breakfast and Dinner.

We will depart our hotel for the Temples of Angkor at first light. Unfortunately only specially licensed bikes and cars are permitted inside the temple complex, Our Harleys definitely do not qualify although we may be able to sneak in a back way after 5 pm if you desire. We will therefore decide whether to travel by motorbike taxi or car. Either way these costs are borne by HTC. That evening, after a swim at the pool we will enjoy a meal at the hotel. If you still have enough energy in you, the rest of the night is yours to enjoy the nightlife of Seim Reip.

Day 3.
Meals that are supplied: Breakfast.

Day 3 is a day of two choices. You can head back to the Temples or take a ride around Siem Reip to see the other sights of this, Cambodia's most modern city. Perhaps there is even a third choice! A day by the pool and maybe even a massage by the hotel's in house massage service. The choice is yours.

Day 4.
Meals that are supplied: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4 we leave Siem Reip for the much more leisurely pace of Kompong Cham. Kompong Cham is a sleepy town on the banks of the Mekong River. We will leave Siem Reip after breakfast around 11am. We will again stop for lunch in Kompong Thom, then continue on to Kompong Cham. After we've check into our hotel, and taken a break we'll head for dinner and drinks at a Khmer restaurant across the Mekong River. A few beers at Joe's Mekong Crossing and Simon's Mekong Daze bars, then off to bed.

Day 5.
Meals that are supplied: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner(a BBQ).

We meet for breakfast at Joe's Mekong Crossing around 8 or 9am. After breakfast and a 10am checkout we head off again. We cross the Mekong and continue back to Phnom Penh. We travel through rubber plantations and rice fields to the town of Prey Veng where we stop for lunch. After lunch we make our way to Neak Leoung. At Neak Leoung we cross the Mekong by Ferry and head back towards Phnom Penh. We arrive back at the Hog House well before dark. Here we'll have a few beers, a swim, a barbeque, and finally, a car trip back to your Phnom Penh Hotel.

The only thing not included in this price is the meals not listed and your drinks.

Cost of the Temples of Angkor tour is $1575.
